The History of the Row of Honour

The row of lime trees on the corner of the village green were planted to honour the memory of the 14 men who were killed in the First World War.

Eleven trees were planted in a row in memory of the dead and three more were planted in January 1919 in memory of the three missing soldiers, to form a cross. The peace tree (which is lit up and Christmas) at the head of the row was planted in March 1919 with the help of four brave survivors.
