Charles John Hall

Charles was the youngest son of William and Ann Hall; he had three brothers and four sisters. After duty on the home front his Battalion was sent to Malaya in early 1942. It surrendered to Japanese forces after the fall of Singapore. Charles was one of the thousands forced to work on the Burma – Siam railway. He died in captivity and is buried in Thanbyuzayat Cemetery.

He is also remembered on a plaque in the church of St Pandionia and St John the Baptist, Eltisley.
